Winston Krone | Chief Research Officer

Winston Krone is a co-founder and Chief Research Officer of Kivu Consulting, where he provides thought leadership in areas of cyber risk. Prior to forming Kivu, Winston was Director of Cyber Investigations at an international corporate investigations firm. Winston has been retained as a testifying cyber expert in both the US and UK in hacking cases, cyber insurance coverage disputes and privacy class-action litigation. He has been appointed a US Federal Master in California. Winston holds patents for technologies used in data breaches around the world.

Matthew McCabe | General Counsel and Risk Officer at Kivu Consulting

Matthew McCabe is the General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer for Kivu Consulting, where he oversees legal issues and compliance programs.  Prior to coming to Kivu, Matt worked as a Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Cyber Policy in Marsh McLennan’s cyber insurance practice.

Matt also served as senior counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security, where he advised congressional representatives on cybersecurity and data privacy issues and in the administration of President George W. Bush as a policy director on the Homeland Security Council. Before working in Washington, Matt was a litigator at Schulte Roth & Zabel in New York, specializing in securities and accounting fraud.  He earned a BA in business administration from Bucknell University and a JD from Hofstra University School of Law.

Rob Meekins | VP of Digital Forensics & Incident Response

Robert Meekins is the Vice President of Digital Forensics & Incident Response for Kivu Consulting.  Prior to coming to Kivu, Robert worked as a Vice President of DFIR for Stroz Friedberg, an Aon Company, where he successfully led complex IR investigations, oversaw their Virtual Team and helped guide the DFIR practice.

Rob previously served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a Special Agent / Computer Crimes Investigator for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.  There he established the integration of cyber intelligence with the Air Force Space Command NOSC. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Rob served as an Investigator for the Department of Interior, Office of Inspector General, where he specialized in cyber investigations in the Oil and Gas Industry.  Following his years of government service, Rob led the Minneapolis DFIR practice for Stroz Friedberg, then led the Forensics practice at Coalfire where he established Coalfire as a Payment Card Industry (PCI) Forensic Investigator (PFI) practice.  Rob was the North American representative for Coalfire for all PFI investigations.

Adam Tyra | VP of Recovery & Transformation

Adam Tyra is Vice President of Recovery & Transformation at Kivu Consulting. He has more than 16 years of experience in cybersecurity and technology with deep expertise in cybersecurity operations. Prior to joining Kivu, Adam led the services business for TalonX and was also a leader in the cybersecurity practices of McKinsey & Company and EY. Before becoming a consultant, he worked as a software development team lead, architecting and implementing automated cybersecurity tools for the U.S. defense and intelligence communities. Adam served as a cybersecurity officer in the U.S. Army.

Dustin Owens | VP of Risk & Resilience

Dustin Owens is the VP of Cyber Risk & Resilience capabilities, which focuses on proactive/pre-incident services at Kivu.  Dustin has more than 25 years of cyber experience. His core expertise is enterprise risk management and compliance, but he also has vast experience in security architecture, network and data security, identity and access management, and security program development.  Dustin’s industry expertise is in financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, travel and transportation, hospitality, and consumer packaged goods.  Throughout Dustin’s prolific career, he has worked with several hundred organizations of all sizes and across all geographies.

Prior to joining Kivu, Dustin held various service leadership positions at Lucent Technologies, International Network Services, British Telecom, HP/DXC and Optiv. Most recently, he operated as a Principal Architect / Field CTO for LogicGate, where he was responsible for driving thought leadership, propelling product innovation and solving complex customer requirements.

Mike Mullins | VP of Managed Services

Mike Mullins leads the overall strategy and service line for Kivu’s managed services business unit. Prior to that, he led cybersecurity operations at ECS and AIG. Mike also spent time at EY inside the cybersecurity practice working with strategic large customers in the areas of IR and managed services.
