Associate Director of e-Discovery & Cyber Investigations
Tim Schmidt is an Associate Director of e-Discovery & Cyber Investigations at Kivu Consulting in Washington, DC. Tim has more than 20 years of professional experience in technology, e-Discovery, computer forensics, cyber security, and litigation support in both consulting and private industry. Mr. Schmidt also possesses an extensive knowledge base of computing platforms, operating systems, networks, and a wide variety of forensic software and hardware, and tools and techniques. He has led diverse and multinational teams on engagements of varying sizes and scopes including investigations, e-discovery, cyber security/breach, and computer forensics. Other roles Tim has had include the development of forensic technology and security curriculums and methodologies, leading education initiatives within forensic technology services practices both domestically and internationally, and designing and building out enterprise forensics labs.
Tim is also adept at creative problem solving, attention to detail to produce quality results, ability to adapt to support team needs and work well with developers to provide translation of customer’s needs. Active listening and consultation skills with talent for respecting and responding to divergent opinions and interests with excellent interpersonal skills. Tim earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the Empire State University, Prague, Czech Republic Campus.
Tim is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), an EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls (CRISC), and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
